Alternatives to speech for communication, such as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), encompasses a broad range of tools and techniques. Unaided AAC focuses on techniques that does not require additional tools such as gesturing, signing or vocalizations. Aided AAC includes additional tools such as communication boards, speech generating devices (SGD) and AAC apps for tablets and phones. GlowSpeak is an Android and iOS AAC app that will be available for free in January of 2026.
This project is currently underway with an IRB approved survey with Georgia Institute of Technology.
